Baby & Toddler Travel Must Haves

Traveling can already be stressful enough, never mind throwing a baby or toddler into the mix. After visiting 8 countries with our little girls and testing many products in attempt to make our journey smoother, we have finally made a list of our baby and toddler travel must haves. Below are some of our staples of travel that we rarely adventure without and our Amazon list of items that we have found extremely helpful. As our girls age, we will continue to add on to this list. We will never suggest or recommend an item that we have not personally had a positive experience with. Hopefully this list will help to make your family trip more enjoyable!

Toddler Travel Must Haves

These five items have been staples of each of our trips traveling with our little ones. At least one or multiple of the above gear makes it on our journey. They have been tested and proven to make our lives easier when traveling with the girls. Find our full Amazon Baby and Toddler Must Haves list here and read on for our reviews on the above items.

The Getaway Bag

Of all the personal bags we’ve tested, The Getaway Bag has become an item that we never travel without. It easily is one of my favorite splurges of all child purchases. The organization alone is my favorite selling point. The bag has so many compartments that just alleviates stress. No more digging into the black hole we call your diaper bag! Below is a photo of all the items we have fit into this bag. You wear the bag as a backpack or place on top of your suitcase. This a baby and toddler must have! It has been worth every penny with the amount of ease it makes our traveling experience. Especially with babies, I can tell Gregg exactly which pocket an item is and he finds it without struggle. It has been a game changer.

No Reception Club is also owned by a California couple and we love to support Family products! Be sure to check out some of their other awesome organized luggage. Definitely a baby and toddler travel must have!

The Flyaway Bed

Owned by an Australian mama, the Flyaway Bed is our second go-to toddler travel must have item is. Maya sleeps like a champ in her “bed” and ifs she’s awake it makes for a nice, comfortable place for her to kick her little legs up. I assume she will outgrow this bed in this next year or so, but it is wonderful for toddlers in their own seat. We have even laid Luna down on it when she fell asleep in our arms and we needed a break. The only downside to this bag is that it is slightly bulky, so we usually stow it away in our carry on suitcase and take out right before boarding. The bed takes about 90 seconds to pump up (pump and bag comes with bed).

Most airlines accept use of the bed as long as you are not in an exit row. We have found that this bed works best for international flights (list of accepted airlines here) and have used in the bulkhead aisle. However, it works better with a seat in front of the bed to stabilize. Flyaway Designs now has fitted sheets that we are excited to try as well! Overall, we highly recommend this bed to enhance your toddler’s comfort level on long-haul flights.

Osprey Poco Lt Child Carrier

We have tried the Deuter hiking carrier and another Amazon cheap brad and a say the Osprey Poco Lt is by far the best, most comfortable hiking carrier on the market. Despite the price, you will get your money’s worth with the Osprey Poco Lt if you are a frequent hiker. The hiking carrier fits up to about a 40 lb child, has a sun shade, two large compartments and smaller pockets on the belt for your phone or snacks. We love that we could fit snacks, drinks, diaper stuff, a drone in here and more! This is a baby and toddler travel must have for hiking families.

Infantino Baby Carrier

Once again, we have tried many baby carriers and this is our favorite. It is lightweight, fits babies and toddlers and is comfortable for the parent. The Infantino carrier is not bulky or strappy, which was a big issue with others. Not to mention, for $30 it is a steal! The carrier can be used on your front or back and has multiple adjustment straps. The straps can be easily tucked away for a minimalist look. Easy on, easy off or photo ops 🙂

gb Pockit All Terrain Travel Stroller

Lastly, our go-to travel stroller (we rarely bring strollers) is the gb Pockit All Terrain Stroller. We love this for city travel or locations like Colmar, France where you’re roaming around Christmas Markets. Usually our motto is “less is more”, but certain locations we like to be carrier-free and let baby breathe. We are sadly past the stroller days, but this was our favorite one. Our Nuna Mixx stroller came with us to Mexico once and I would never recommend bringing your expensive, best stroller. It will mostly likely come back dinged up.

If you have the funds to splurge for a fancy travel stroller, make sure it is one that is lightweight and compact. There is a small storage basket below, enough to fit some essentials, but definitely not a diaper bag. The positive to a small stroller like the gb Pockit, is that is easy to fold up and store when your on transportation like trains and cabs. It is so simple to put in tight spaces. Anyone who has traveled on a European or Japanese train knows that storage space is minimal and a large stroller is a pain in the butt! Especially, when you are traveling on the local trains. If you decide to bring a stroller, this is one that at a price point of $150, you will not be stressed if it comes back with a couple dings.

Baby/Toddler Travel Must Haves

You don’t need to splurge on every baby travel item that pops up on Instagram ads, but these few items are some baby and toddler travel must haves that we think parents should add to their wishlist. Each item has been used many times and we highly recommend. Our Amazon Baby/Toddler travel must have list is a collection over the years that we found useful. Please do not pack all of the items, but decide which may be essential for your trip. Also, feel free to share any products that you love as we’re always searching for more creative ways to keep our toddlers entertained as they age. Don’t forget to check out more of our packing tips here. Bon Voyage!
